Congratulations to Richard Merrill who has just been offered a Junior Research Fellowship at King’s College. This independent research position will allow him to carry on his work on the genetic architecture of traits that contribute to speciation in Heliconius.

Our recent paper in the journal Evolution describes the gradual accumulation of mate preferences during divergence and speciation in Heliconius. Experiments conducted across a variety of levels of divergence show that mate preferences increase in strength throughout the process.
