Congratulations to Laura on winning the joint prize for best student talk at the Evolution 150 meeting in Cuenca, Spain! From Zoology, Chris Jiggins, Marie Pointer and Jenny Clack also presented talks.
Maria-Clara Melo’s paper on the mate preferences of hybrids has just been published in Evolution. She has shown that H. melpomene x H. cydno backcross hybrids prefer to mate amongst themselves – suggesting that the hybrid origin of species such as H. heurippa could be extremely rapid.
